The Book Fair has been extended through Monday, May 20th. If you have not had a chance to visit the Book Fair during this very busy week, please come in on Monday & stock up for summer reading!
Plan to stock up for summer reading at the Buy One - Get One Free Book Fair in the Library next week. Hours of operation are 7:30 - 3:30, M-Th and 7:30 - 3:00 on Friday.
Now with eWallet, students can make a digital payment for books so it is not necessary to bring cash to school. Visit the Book Fair homepage to learn more about eWallet.
The 1st Annual Holiday Short Film Festival will be held this Wednesday after school in the Library. This event is sponsored by the Point Library YAC! (Youth Advisory Committee). The admission charge is one (1) non-perishable food item. Food will be donated to the Linn & Johnson County Veterans.
Everyone is welcome! Snacks will be provided. Please have rides pick you up by 5:00 PM. All school rules apply.
And just like that, it's almost time to go back to school! We cannot wait to see you at the Back-to-School Open House and hear about your summer adventures. We are also excited to welcome new 7th-graders to Point. It's going to be a great year!
Have a great summer everybody! Eat some watermelon, enjoy the sunshine, and don't forget to READ!
Check out the Point Summer Reading website for details about the summer reading challenge and ways that we can stay connected. Where will you read and read about this summer?
Have you heard that we are genrefying the Prairie Point Library this summer? What does that mean? Well it means that we are rearranging the Fiction section so that books will be grouped together by genre (i.e., mystery, romance, historical fiction, science fiction, realistic, etc.) rather than arranged alphabetically by the author's last name.
Labeling and then moving every book in the fiction section has taken longer than we anticipated. For that reason, we have decided to cancel our last community library day and instead work in the library at Point on the Tuesday, August 12th from 10 AM - Noon. Volunteers are needed! If you can spare a couple of hours, contact Mrs. Wilding to let her know that you can help.
Yesterday the Anime Club made some cool, torn-art book marks out of old manga that were falling apart (because they get read sooooo much!)
Plans are in the works for a new club at Prairie Point called The Library Club (TLC). This club will meet in the library and will participate in activities related to books, reading, and libraries. Exact details about the club and its activities are not known yet because they will depend on student input. If you are a Point student, please complete this brief survey even if you do not think you are interested in the club. It will give you more information about what the club might do and be and will help us plan the best club possible. Thanks for your input!
