Gems of Hope is an organization that strives to bring inspirational resources and hope to cancer patients and their families. Through their program, Pages of Hope, these books were donated to our library (and others to all the libraries at Prairie). These donated books (and others about young people dealing with cancer) will be on display in the front of the library at Point for the next few weeks. Check them out!
Also check out Cancer Really Sucks!, a website created by teens for teens who are dealing with cancer in their family.
We love our new sign that was made by a couple of talented Prairie Point students. But do they really think we look that angry when we ask students to sign in? Hmmmm.
Check out the blog for the 7th Grade Read & Feed! Everyone is welcome to join in the discussion through comments. These will be moderated so will not appear on the blog until approved. Group members can join the blog as an author. See Mrs. Wilding for directions.
See you tomorrow for day 2 of A Long Walk to Water. All 7th grade students are invited. If you did not make it to Day 1, no worries! You can listen to Day 1 at the link on the blog or we will review the story so far at the beginning of the day tomorrow.
Book clubs are going to look a little different this year at Prairie Point. We will be experimenting with different formats. We will begin with 7th grade & the Read & Feed (Read-Aloud) method. Mrs. Wilding will read the book aloud to you as you eat. We will have time for discussion at the end of each session & can continue the discussion on our blog.
We will meet on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday of each week until we finish the book (approximately 3 weeks). The first meeting will be this Thursday, October 11 during 7th grade lunch. Go straight through the line in the cafeteria and bring your lunch over to Mr. Wolfe's room (across the hall from the cafeteria).
Our first book will be A Long Walk to Water by Newbery Medalist author, Linda Sue Park.
7th Graders -- Please ask Mrs. Wilding, Mrs. Walter or your Reading or Language Arts teacher if you have any questions.
See you Thursday for Read & Feed!
